Cider Press
So what do you do with 55+ lbs of apples? You build a cider press. Everyone had a chance to help daddy build it also. Half is gonna be kid friendly cider and the other will be hard cider for mommy.

Oktoberfest (late post)
There is a small German town just south of us called Mt. Angel. Ever year they host a huge Oktoberfest celebration, so naturally we had to go check it out. It was pouring outside that day so we decided to cram into one of the beer halls to stay dry, to eat, and chicken dance with the kids. We met some interesting people and made lots of memories. Can't wait til next year!
Hood River
My kids think it's crazy that apples just grow on trees, which makes me laugh (apparently they never noticed fruit on trees before). So of course this fall we had to take them to an orchard so that they could pick their own. Hood River is known for their fruit orchards and was an excellent choice. 55+lbs later, I feel like we might have a Popi apple pie situation ahead of us.

First Day of School, again
The kids here in Oregon went back to school after Labor Day. Liam started second grade this year and Brennan started Pre-K. It made me sad that this is Brennan's first year of school and now it is just me and Mac in the mornings. What I wasn't expecting was that Brennan was too smart and they decided to moved him up to Kindergarten. So now I have to adjust to not only him going to school, but now a full day. But after hearing about his day and how excited he was, we knew it was the right move for him.

Birthday Plans
Brennan has been asking every day since we moved to Oregon if we could go to Family Fun Center. No joke. So of course when his birthday rolled around we knew exactly where we were going. He was so excited he didn't even have words, lol. It was a great family day and an awesome way to spend his 5th birthday.

End of summer
So clearly it's been awhile since I've posted anything on the blog. But, here's the deal, I had all three kiddos home and well, chaos ensued. Now that school has started, it should be a little better and easier to post (in theory that is).
For our last hoorah before school started, we went camping on Mt. Hood. It definitely had some highs and lows but over all a great trip. I also had the most epic frontier experience. We stayed on the Zigzag River, which if you don't know is part of the Oregon Trail, part of the Barlow pass. Mac, being Mac, stole some bacon off the picnic table and proceeded to eat it, then gag. He panicked and well when Mac panics he starts throwing up. We were both covered. I peeled off our layers and realized I didn't want it in the tent or the car for the next two days.
In comes the river. I took the clothes down to the river bank to wash them, but with out a sponge I had to use a rock and scrubbed the clothes against another rock with the soap we did fortunately have. And there you have it, I'm on the Oregon Trail, in the Zigzag River, scrubbing clothes between two rocks. Note: Mac threw up on the only jacket I brought so Clay ended up buying me a new Columbia fleece for our Anniversary.
