Cantaloupe

It feels like I'm carrying a soccer ball around. I guess I'm not too far off.

Change in settings

Today I was looking at the settings of my blog and I realized that it was setup so only people with google accounts could leave comments. Well that's no longer the case. All of our friends and family should be able to leave commments now, and I see some already have.

5mths

As you all can tell, I have moved to fat pants. I no longer fit into anything I own. I'm still under weight at this point but not as drastic as the last 2mths. I guess Thanksgiving helped a lot with that. The fatigue has subsided as well as the dizziness, however now my back is killing me and I get heartburn after almost every meal. Now that's a weird feeling. I didn't even know what it was at first since I never have had it before. As for cravings I still eat guac 2-3 times a week and fudgey brownies with blue bell ice cream, roasted peanuts, and caramel or homemade toll house chocolate chip cookies with walnuts. I try to not have a brownie every night since that much sugar isn't good for the baby, were as for the cookies I freeze the dough so I can make two at a time and not over do it. But boy do I miss my coke. Its so hard to go to a restaurant and have to get water. I do have a coke every now and then, but it just makes me want it even more.

5mth Checkup & Ultra-sound

Today was my 2owk ultra-sound which was really cool because Baby Gil well looks like a baby instead of a peanut. The tech showed us the brain, heart, kidneys, and the spine. As well as the arms, legs, head, lips, and face. She had a very hard time with figuring out the sex of the baby since Baby Gil would not stop moving. She tried three separate times while Clay and I kept our eyes shut since we didn't want to know. Also Baby Gil's head sits very low and she had a hard time getting a shot of his head. She even was pushing down and moving my belly around to get his head out from under my pelvic bone. The tech had to switch to an internal ultra-sound exam and she still couldn't get a very clear shot. I guess Baby Gil is stubborn like his mom. Our favorite shots were of the baby opening his mouth real wide to swallow amniotic fluid and the other of him sucking on his thumb. It was so weird to see and feel the baby to move at the same time.

When the tech was done with baby shots she let us know that I have a low lying placenta and not to worry yet and that the doctor will explain to us what that means. Basically its still to early to know if it will be a problem with delivery and that I have to make sure that I don't do any strenuous exercise or I could start to bleed. If you want some more info on placenta previa click here. Other than that everything seems to look good from the ultra-sound such as size of the baby and my fluids. Clay even asked the doctor this time if he could get a copy of the heart beat and he did. He recorded it on his mp3 player. We are going to get it on the blog shortly for anyone who would like to hear. You can hear me laugh at the end of the clip because Clay was dancing to the heartbeat in the doctors office. Also I'm posting the other ultra-sound pics on my flickr account, which is http://www.flickr.com/photos/8590332@N03/

The set is called baby. The link is also in My Links section on the right of the blog.

This is the heart beat. Blogger will ask when you open this page now if you would like to allow a function. That is so you can hear the heartbeat. You would need to click yes or allow.

No More Toes

So as of yesterday, I can no longer see my own toes when standing up and looking down. First went the abs and now the toes.

Black Friday

Black Friday was the first time I felt the baby kick, and since then it hasn't stopped. Mom said that when I was a baby I would make her entire stomach move. Baby Gil isn't kicking that strongly yet, thank goodness, but always decides to move around lot when I want to take a nap or go to bed. Clay can't feel the baby, but I can tell he really wants too.

Avocado

So I found this image from thenest.com and it made me laugh. Mostly because the last 16 weeks I can't seem to get enough gauc in my system. Plus its just funny to think of the baby as an avocado.

16 weeks checkup

So today was my 16th week checkup. I now weigh 150lbs, which if you don't remember is back where I began. Therefore, I'm still considered under weight. I should have gained 8-10lbs by now. The good news is I can now keep my food down so the extra couple of pounds shouldn't be a problem with Thanksgiving and Christmas around the corner. I need to start gaining 1pound per week now.
Dr. Wolk also went over my labs from last time. I don't have rubella, UTI (yeah!), chlamydia, syphilis, hep b, gonorrhea, or HIV. Which is good because otherwise clay would have some explaining to do. Also when Dr Wolk told me my blood type, I was shocked...and so was my mother. My mom, dad, jimmy, shannon, and mitchell all have A+. I don't. I'm apparently O+. Crazy. I had know idea. I have thought the last 25yrs I was also A+, like the rest of the family. Who knew?
Clay also got to hear the heartbeat for the first time. He said he wanted to get a copy of the heartbeat and turn it into a techno, which made Dr Wolk laugh. Clay seemed unimpressed with the whole thing, other than he's glad the baby is doing well. He said the ultrasound was more exciting...which almost made him cry. Our next ultrasound is in 4 weeks, which is right before Christmas.

The crib

So on Tuesday, Clay and I decided to go and buy a crib for baby gil. Even before we got pregnant, I had told Clay that I wanted to buy the crib. Plus it was probably much easier to get the crib to the house locally vs if we have a baby shower in Bradenton. Can you imagine the crib with other gifts and a dog in our small toyota trying to get back to Melbourne? Neither can we.

Since Clay came with me to get the crib on Tuesday, and it took forever, I didn't make him help me set it up right away. We set it up on Friday. It took us over two hours. Who ever wrote the directions was an idiot. The written directions were wrong but the diagrams where correct. We eventually got it, and it looks great.

2nd Trimester

Finally I'm in the 2nd trimester, and thankfully the nausea has gone away. I'm also sleeping again. I am so glad to be back to my old self, well mostly. Clay keeps calling me fat, which just makes me laugh. I know I still have a long way to go and I'm only getting bigger. We are getting so excited since now we can see I'm pregnant. We can't seem to not touch my belly.

3mths part II

See. I told you I just look bloated.

3mths part I

So today is finally 3mths and the normal turning point for nausea to start to go away...yeah! I have lost almost 15lbs since getting pregnant, making it the best diet ever. Even though I have lost weight, I have also started to get a baby bump. But if you ask me I just look bloated. I'll post a pic tomorrow since Clay took my camera cord accidentally to Cedar Rapids when he took my laptop. He comes home tomorrow after being away for two weeks. He's bummed he didn't get to hear the heart beat, but is glad baby gil is doing well.

Doc Visit

So today was another doctors visit. First we went over my medical history, which is very short since I have never had a baby before. Then we sat and talked about questions and concerns regarding the baby. After that the doc thought it was still to early to listen for the heart beat but tried any ways and I was glad she did. Baby gil already has a strong heart beat. You normally don't hear the heart beat for another 2 weeks or so. After the appt. I had to get several different blood test done such as HIV and other STD's among others. I feel like a pin cushion. I guess I have to start getting used to that.

2mths

I can't believe today is 2 mths. That's just crazy. Yesterday was the ultra-sound and we got to see baby gil flutter around and see its heart beat. The nurse said baby gil heart rate was normal and its about 1/2in now. I've also have lost weight since last mth, since everything I eat makes me feel sick. It looks like I take after my mom in that respect.

First of many

So yesterday was my first of many doctors visits. It wasn't anything really special. I had a urine test to confirm the pregnancy and they took my blood pressure and my weight as a reference point. Also they gave me a script for prenatal vitamins. I was sent home with a stack of paperwork Clay and I are supposed to look over and sign. I'm also getting a ultra sound next week because I have a retroverted uterus. Since it's tilted backwards they can't tell whether or not it is the right size/growing correctly, so they are going to check.

They grow up so fast

It's scary how fast babies grow. At five weeks we have the beginning of all our vital organs, but are still smaller than a grain of rice. Baby Gil already has a heart that will start pumping blood this week, as well as a neural tube, liver, and brain.

Due in May

So my Grandma Bristol called me today. She said that I was the first one she was calling about some really exciting news. My cousin Matt is also having a baby in May. Matt and I both got married Sept 2 (2006,2007) and now we are both having a baby in May. What a crazy world.

4 Weeks

Today marks the fourth week for baby gil. So far the symptoms that I'm having are fatigue, light-headed, cramping, and mild nausea that isn't constant. My current weigh in is at 150 lbs. which is a huge improvement from January(+165). Goodbye abs and toes. I'll miss you.

Second Try

I still couldn't believe that I was pregnant, so I took another pregnancy test this morning (mostly because they come two in a box. what else was I going to do with it). Needless to say it's still positive.

Could it be?

So after feeling funny for over ten days, I couldn't take it any longer and tried taking a pregnancy test. Keep in mind that I wasn't due for another 4 days, so to my surprise it was positive. I thought surely that it would be negitive for at least 3 more days. Wow! I still can't believe it.

3 is fine, but 7 is better

Today I went and saw the doctor for my normal yearly visit. I told her that me and Clay have started trying this month. So she sent me home with 7 different samples of prenatal vitamins that I'm supposed to try to see which ones agree with me. I think 3 boxes would have been fine. Aren't all prenatal vitamins about the same?

A Twosome

After being together for over eight years, Clay and I have decided to turn our twosome into a family. And since our families and friends are spread all over the country, we (meaning I) wanted to keep a blog to keep everyone informed of all the baby making news and pictures, now and after the baby is born.
