Wooden Shoe Festival

You may or may not know that I love tulips. I mean LOVE them! So for my birthday, Clay and the boys took me to the tulip festival. It's 43 arces of tulips! We had so much fun walking around. There was a steam tractor, men carving wooden shoes, wine tasting, bounce houses, food, you name it, they had it. They even had a field that the boys could pick fresh flowers for my birthday. What a fun day :)

Hi Ho Hi Ho, into the city we go

On the last day Clay's parents were here we took the Max into the city. We did the tourist thing and showed them the landmarks. We took the air tram, bought books at Powell's books, had ice cream at Salt and Straw (strange flavors and crazy long lines), and the waterfront. Well, we thought it was their last day. Didn't plan on there being a blizzard in the Midwest.

A Day at the Beach

Day 2 at the beach. We saw the "Goonies" rocks from Ecola Park then drove down the road and spotted a herd of elk (which are known to be in that area). We went to Cannon Beach to see Haystack Rock and explore tidal pools and even got to fly our kites that the boys bought at the Japanese Garden.

Easter Chocolate

For Easter, my mom sent the boys some chocolate (and books). This is Cormac after eating only some of that chocolate. Note: him jumping straight up and down in the beginning until he saw I was filming and wanted to see.

The Pacific

So to kick off Spring Break, we headed to Seaside, which is a cute little coastal town in Oregon. We got there in time to have dinner and watch the sunset.

Japanese Gardens

This past week we (my mother in law, the kids, and I) went to check out the Portland Japanese Garden while the rest of the group did a bike tour of the city. It was so beautiful and the flowers had not bloomed yet, well except the cherry trees. Everyone loved it, except Brennan. He wasn't having a good day and had a huge melt down. We decided to go get lunch which was a huge hit, literally; I hit a Smartcar.

Ugh! The worst part was we were leaving for our family vacation to the beach and now we were delayed because some girl who had 4 car lengths to park thought it was a great idea to park less than 12 in behind a mini van on a steep hill. There goes my clean Oregon driving record. Could be worse, no one was hurt and damage very minimal. However, her license plate is now prementely imbedded into my bumper.

Silver Falls

So a couple of weekends ago we went to Silver Falls, and I had every time intention of posting pictures but then our house was hit by the flu, followed by the cold. Needless to say it didn't happen. So here they are.
