39 week checkup

Today was my 39th week checkup. When I first got to the office my blood pressure was very high, so Dr Zylman said that after my examine that if its still that high, I would need to go to the hospital. We then talked about the 3 separate rounds of contractions that I have been having, so she was very curious of how far along I was. As she went to check baby gil's heart beat I had another contraction. She laughed and told me that she believed me and that I didn't need to show her. She couldn't believe how long it was. "No wonder why you're so tired." But when she did the examine I was still only 1.5cm and 50%. She then got this crazy look in her eyes and decided to strip my membranes. She proceeded to tell me that she wouldn't be surprise if I were to go into labor tonight now. Afterwards they rechecked my bp and it was still high but I didn't need to go to the hospital but if I have any symptoms of high bp I need to go in right away. My next appt is Monday, and if I still haven't had the baby they will schedule my induction then.

False Labor

On Tuesday night and then again yesterday, I was having contractions that where 10 min apart and 30 sec long. Each session lasted over 6hrs, and they never got closer together or increased in duration. Stupid false labor. We have just decided that Baby Gil is as stubborn as his mother and is refusing to come out by jamming his arms and feet into my sides. And that the mere thought of having to eat and breath on his own is just too much for him to handle.

38 week checkup

Today was my 38wk checkup. How crazy is that? Everything went well though. I now weigh 183, which is up 33lbs since I got pregnant. My blood pressure and the babie's heart rate is excellent and of course Baby Gil is kicking the crap out of me. There is literally no more room left for him to move around. I am also now 1.5 cm dilated and 50% effaced. Just call me a ticking time bomb.

Day at the Beach

Yesterday, Clay, Jager, and I went to the beach. We decided that we didn't just want to sit around the house and do nothing. So we went to the causeway. We parked on one side which didn't allow pets, so we walked over the causeway to the other side were Jager and I jumped right in. He did great until boats would go by and he would run to the shore towards daddy. When they would pass, he would run back out to me. I know what you're thinking. Kelly and Clay were at the beach?

Two is Better

Today we bought a second car seat base. Since we have two cars, Clay and I thought that it would be more convenient if we had two bases. I have the Buick during the week, but we always use the Toyota on the weekends. This way we aren't constantly changing cars or moving the base around. What can I say...we're lazy.

Dropped

Here is a side-by-side shot of 35 weeks (red) and today at 37 1/2 weeks (black). You can clearly see that the baby has dropped. Also today I've had an increase in contractions. Who knows, it could be just around the corner. Or just hopeful thinking.

37 week checkup

I went in today for my 37 week check-up. My weight was good... higher than I would have liked it. However this past weekend was Easter and all I did was eat. And now that the baby has dropped, I can eat. My blood pressure is excellent as well. I'm measuring at 37cm and the baby's heart beat is also great. My results for strep b came back negative..so no antibiotics during delivery, yeah!
I also talked to Dr. Wagaman about the intense burning/stabbing sensation I'm having just under my right rib. She says that it sounds like the nerve ending is being stretched past capacity, which would cause the intense pain. Unfortunately, other than icing it, there isn't anything I can do. We also talked about the major swelling I'm getting in my feet, which my family was making fun of this weekend. The sheer size of my feet make Clay really nervous. But Dr Wagaman says that so longs as it comes and goes, its ok, and since my bp is excellent she's not worried about it.

The Finish Line

Today I'm 37 weeks pregnant, which means I'm officially in my safe dates to have the baby. At any given time I could go into labor. How scary is that. I know I'm on pins and needles. I still haven't gotten used to the whole idea of labor. And with tonight being a full moon, could this be the night? Shannon is hoping so...wink, wink. She's got money on today.

Baptism Class

Tonight is our Baptism Class at Our Lady of Lourdes. This is something new that the Catholic Church has started doing. I don't know why, now after hundreds of years, they have decided you need to go to a class. But we are just excited that after tonight we don't have any more classes at all, and that we can get back to our normal routine. The reason we are taking the class so early is because it looks like Jimmy is going to be deployed in Aug to Iraq. Therefore when he comes down after the baby is born we are also going to get Baby Gil Baptised so that he can be here (the norm is usually when the baby is about three mths) We plan on having the Baptism at St Joseph's which is where Clay and I got married and the Godparents are Seth and Shannon. The date is still tentative since we don't know when Jimmy can get over here from Hawaii, and thankfully Deacon Bob is working with us since he knows everything that's going on. I guess it helps that mom is involved in EVERYTHING at church.

36 week checkup

Today was my appt with Dr Wolk. I felt bad for the poor guy. He was the only doc there and six employees were out. Needless to say my appt was late. My weight is good and my bp was excellent again and I'm measuring at 36cm. I got nervous when he checked the heartbeat since we were in that accident on Sunday. It was really really faint this time, but Dr Wolk said it was good. I also got my strep b test taken today and will get the results next time. And since I've been having contractions, he checked to see if I have started to dilate as well as the position of the baby. Baby Gil is head down now but I haven't dilated yet. Maybe next time.

9mths

Today marks the beginning of my ninth month. I can't believe I'm in the final stretch. I currently weigh 180 which is only up 3lbs from last mth. Part of the reason for the lack of weight gain this month is that I've been sick. Baby Gil has now run out of room and has switched from kicking to wiggling. His favorite thing is to jam his feet under my ribs and wiggle his toes. As for symptoms, my hips are really starting to hurt now that they are shifting. And at the end of the day my feet look like balloons. The heartburn is getting better though, now that the baby is starting to drop. And who could forget the fatigue. Last night I slept almost 14hrs. I guess that mother nature's way to prepare you for all the sleepless nights ahead.
